One of our Grade Four Classes went on an amazing tour of tipi rings , an aboriginal effigy man and medicine wheels last fall. Aboriginal peoples gathered yearly and left behind evidence that our students carefully studied. Students were helped by Mr. , who dusted the rings with biodegradable baby powder and pancake mix which helped make the wheels visible.

Mrs. D., their teacher, had students gather in a large circle where she told them First Nation legends about the significance of North, South, East and West. Students gathered digital photos, researched First Nation history, created a chant to accompany the movie made using Movie Maker and shared their work with parents and other students. Here is the result of all that work!

Mrs. D. also had some fun creating tableauxs using the digital camera and Word Paint. Here are some of the images her students created!
